This AL319 can be used alone, it is a OBDII & CAN Code Reader.It support onlint update.

I used it on my 97 Dodge Ram 1500,and it worked well.
I will not work at all on my 2005 chrysler 300C hemi .. AWD...Will not respond when connected... not sure what the problem is but I kn ow that the Chrysler service techs use the same data link plug and it works for them

AL319 can mainly used to turn off Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), clears codes and resets monitors.
