Xtool VAG401 VW Audi OBD2 Scanner Reviews:

1). It really works. not all features tested yet, not tried to update - but it reads and clears errors, reads info and it's good for now. mostly you have to do everything leading by general understanding how it works as far as there's no particular information in user's guide.

2). This tool helped me sooo much working on my '07 GTI. I could perform any operation that I needed to so far. Not as easy as I'd do with VCD-S, I'll explain the differences below. I did run the software update tool, but my software was already the latest.
It does:
- scan codes
- clear codes and reset control units
- show measurement blocks
- basic settings
- actuator testing
- adaptation
- login
- coding

3).  This was easy-peasy. There are many other things this tool will do, but for my purpose, it allows me to do an annual maintenance task without having to take to my local dealer. This tool + fuel filter is $100. I would easily pay that each time I took it to the dealer, plus I don't have to take the time to make an appointment and drive 80 miles round trip. This was a no-brainer for me.

4). This thing is so handy. It seems to do everything a real vcd-s can do. It finds all the fault codes and can activate test protocols. I have not tried coding, but that is my one gripe. Unlike all other systems, the coding setup is very difficult to understand. You don't get the simple check box's for the code that others have, instead it's manual longcode. Other then that, it is great for diagnostics and testing. I love it.
