There mainly are three kinds of Renault CAN CLiP diagnostic tool from China, designed by different factories, that come with different printed circuited boards (PCBs).

Type 1: CAN CLIP v162 for Renault – CHEAPEST

This is the NEWEST Renault Clip clone, released on Dec. 2016. It is only for $105, the CHEAPEST version, compared to others. Work no issues of the basic obdii functions.

Type 2: Renault CAN Clip diagnostic interface – HIGH QUAILTY

This is the BEST quality but most expensive CLIP with the AN2131QC chip, for $135. -So far no issues on reading all the information relating to the vehicle, diagnosing Renault cars models including automatically test all Renault models’ computers, reporgramming, airbag test and other functions.

Type 3: Renault CAN CLiP V162 – the MOST Populous

CAN CLIP with PCBs designed as above is the MOST POPULOUS version of chinese copies.

Almost Renault models are tested by users and technicians, like Clio II, Laguna II, Laguna III, Scenic II, New Twingo, Megane Scenic, Spider, etc (both no issues of obd2 diagnostics and ecu reprogramming.)

So, it can also be the SAFETEST version to use on cars.

Tip 1: Quality & Price

In China, you can get anything – at/for any price, problem is that you will have to accept the quality. “You get what you pay for” – And this is more or less true, there will be always someone somewhere “trying to” do it for less, but there are thresholds and once you step under them, you will have to suffer from the results. Quality of a product also depends on the material you purchase (You can’t simply make gold out of wood)

Tip 2: Reasons for low costs

The only reason why the obdii diagnostic cables are made in China is because 90% of the materials (micro-controllers and ICs) come from there. That is, it’s mainly about cost, most people would not be ready to pay 3-4 times the price just for the device being made in Europe or the US.
