I personally needed the CANFD adapter so it made the P50 the much cheaper option compared to AST.

I have the obdstar p50. I primarily work on newer Japanese vehicles (2020+) and it has worked very well. First, I see no difference between them in terms of coverage. I have an excel sheet that has all the coverages for the p50 and airbag service tool and haven't come across any model I work on that was covered in one that wasn't covered in the other. I personally needed the CANFD adapter so it made the P50 the much cheaper option compared to AST. So, if you want best bang for your buck, it is the P50.
