Q:Do you need an active update subscription to use the special functions?
Answer:
A:On vehicles that do not require the scan tool to have an internet (like 99.9% of all vehicles ever made until the last few years) the answer is NO, a current sub is not required. However, on new super modern cars that do require the scan tool to have an internet connection the answer is, maybe. Some vehicles may require internet AND a current subscription , some vehicles may only require the internet connection. Either way, it's the vehicle that dictates this.... not the scan tool. So, in other words, if a certain 2023 vehicle requires the scan tool to have an internet connection along with a current subscription, that is the VEHICLE requiring this, not the scan tool.
